Home Sweet Home

Welcome to our home. Here’s a little history on our property and home. Our property was originally settled by my husband David’s Grandparents after they returned home from WWII. They didn’t have much but managed to build a small home to start a family. One could say it was rustic, homestead living but they raised four children here until they sold the home in the early 1980s. In the mid-1990s, a new owner tore the original house down and the property was bought and sold several times without being redeveloped. In November of 2013, my husband noticed that the property was for sale again and he immediately put in an offer to buy the land. At the time David and I had just gotten engaged and we wanted to wait for the right time to build our first home. David would spend the next three years drawing different house plans trying to come up with the perfect layout for our growing family. He toiled over different layouts trying to design a home that would preserve and capture much of the natural beauty of the 2-acre wooded lot while also meeting the needs of our family. In the winter of 2016, we came up with the perfect design for our home and decided to meet with a builder that spring. After meeting with our builder, we knew he was the perfect choice to build our home. We broke ground on our Custom Craftsman Style home in the fall of 2016 and moved in the following spring. In a future post, I will discuss our design choices and how our floor plan helped us to maximize our budget and create some dramatic living spaces to achieve a high-end look at a reasonable price.
